About
Professional coaching (life coaching, career coaching, success coaching, etc.) started in the mid-1990’s and because of its effectiveness, has steadily gained in popularity both as a career and an important service. It works a lot like a sports coaching situation. Say you wanted to improve your golf score. A golf coach would look at your game and tell you objectively the good and the bad. He would make suggestions, help you brainstorm ideas to improve various problem areas, recommend a practice routine and expect you to follow it. The end result is that you improve your golf game. Coaching works much the same way.
Decision Coaching is a special type of coaching. A decision coach uses the skills and experience obtained as a coach in combination with a deep understanding and knowledge of the decision making process. The result is a coach who can walk you through the process. I can help you clarify exactly what it is that you need to decide, set the criteria for a successful decision, develop and evaluate options and guide you through making your best choice. I am available to ask needed questions, brainstorm and provide objective feedback.
Decision Coaching is not simply analytical help with the decision process, although that is a very important part. The decision coach needs to understand you, your values, long term goals, wants and needs. He should see you as a real person and, at the same time, see you more objectively than you see yourself. Your decision coach will need to understand what you really want out of your life and always consider that in helping you evaluate your choices.
As your Decision Coach, I will not make the decision for you. I will act as a skilled guide, consultant and advisor, but ultimately the choice should be and needs to be made by you.
